Lack of sleep can lead to insulin resistance in men, says study
Getting proper sleep is extremely important for us. The mind and body are in a state of rest when we sleep. We wake up feeling refreshed and active.
Researchers have also found a link between lack of sleep and insulin resistance. Insulin resistance increases the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes.
The study mainly looks at the effects of poor sleep on men.
Researchers studied the effects by conducting an experiment. This was done over five nights on 34 healthy men with an average age of 33 years.
It was found that men who slept less had a higher insulin resistance. The study claims that a eight to 10 hours of sleep every night is vital to keep the body healthy.
Lack of sleep can change hormone levels and blood sugar levels causing medical disorders.
