Smartphone addiction is a serious health hazard, says experts
Smartphones are inevitable in our lives. Both youngsters and the elderly alike are addicted to smartphones. There are many benefits with using them and many hazards as well.
Countries like the United Kingdom have already declared themselves to be a smartphone-addicted country. 60% of teenagers in the United Kingdom are addicted to smart phones.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has pointed out that radiation from smartphones can cause serious health hazards.
A study by a group of researchers in Australia proves that smartphones are the main reason behind the lack of productivity in people. The physical and emotional well-being of a person can get affected due to the excessive usage of smart phones.
Here are a few findings by the researchers.
- Most of the people check smartphones at intervals because it has become a habit, and not because they need to.
- One-third of the people were constantly checking their phones. If they were not able to, they became uneasy.
- More than half of the students are stuck to their smartphones even while being engaged in other activities.
- Fear of Missing out (FOMO) affects many youngsters. They constantly need to be updated on what is happening in the social media.
Experts say that for many people, smartphones are more important than a deodorant or a toothbrush! A recent survey revealed that majority of the people check their smartphones at least in an interval of 6.5 minutes. The age group of 18 to 24 years are the worst affected.
