Odisha to start an exclusive centre for elderly people
The Odisha state government is going to ensure that the elderly in the state stay happy. The Department of Social Securities and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) is going to kickstart a project titled Anti Ageing Centre for the Elderly.
This project will look into the different services and activities that can be made available in order to make the elderly happy.
Work on the project has already started. Officials confirm that it will be launched within three months. Various services will be provided to the elderly at this centre for happiness and recreation.
Therapy sessions, activities for the elderly, consultation, treatment, and other medical services will be provided. The centre will also have an exclusive library and seminar hall for elderly people.
Initially, the centre will have a capacity to host up to 250 people. It will soon be expanded.
According to the 2011 census, 9.5% of the total population of Odisha comprises of the elderly. Now, the statistics would have risen. An exclusive centre for the elderly is very important for the state.
