Punjab & Haryana High Court slam CBSE for not looking out for disabled children

Last year, the Central Board of School Education (CBSE) had set up a committee to look into strengthening the education system and make it inclusive so disabled children get the benefits they are entitled to.

The Punjab and Haryana High court has now criticized the CBSE for not taking this issue up seriously. The court was hearing a bunch of petitions from different people about the lack of inclusion in the CBSE board.

The bench said that if the committee had given its recommendations, it could have been implemented for the academic year 2018-19. Now, the entire process has been delayed.

A CBSE official has now assured the court that the recommendations will be submitted in two weeks time.

In March 2018, the court had told the CBSE to hold a meeting with all stakeholders and state educations boards to implement the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
