Disability groups from Tamil Nadu to protest for rights of disabled school teachers

The Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Types of Differently Abled and Caregivers (TARATDAC) are gearing up to hold a protest on 21 May.

There are more than 12,000 teachers who teach art in government schools across Tamil Nadu. Out of this, 150 are disabled teachers. They teach music, drawing, and other arts in schools across Tamil Nadu.

According to government rules, a teacher must be appointed as a permanent employee if they have worked for more than two years in an institution. But all these 150 teachers are still employed on a temporary basis even after two years.

Even though they are supposed to be paid in Time Pay Scale , it has not been implemented yet as well.

The teachers are going to raise their demands to the School Education departments in Tamil Nadu. They will stage a protest on 21 May where their families will also join them.
