Calicut University to start centres for people with various mental disabilities
Calicut University in Kerala will set up separate centres for people with mental disabilities. This has been announced by top university officials during the launch of a Community Disability Management and Rehabilitation Programme (CDMRP).
The CDMRP was initially set up only on campuses. They are also located in Kannur, Kozhikode, and Malapuram districts. The centres offer free services to people with cerebral palsy, autism, learning disability, and other disabilities.
The various departments of clinical psychology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech language pathology and audiology, and special education work together.
The community-based early intervention clinics, pragmatic social skills training, advanced autism clinics, and other services will help the people.
