South Asian countries have the largest number of tobacco users, says study
A recent study has shed light on the harmful effects of tobacco use. It said that a huge chunk of population in many countries die due to excessive use of tobacco. The study pointed out that South Asian countries have the largest number of smokers.
These include countries like India, Indonesia and China, which together have the highest number of smokers. Tobacco usage is followed by alcohol abuse and high intake of illicit drugs.
Experts say that the use of smokeless tobacco is a major threat. There are also many people who chew Areca nutmeg. This is also a carcinogen which can cause serious health issues. This makes India a high consumer of tobacco and non tobacco products.
South Asian countries lead in the number of tobacco smokers. Western, Central and Eastern Europe showed the maximum number of alcohol consumers.
