Three-year jail term for man convicted for raping minor disabled girl
A Thane court has announced a three-year rigorous imprisonment term on a 50-year-old man for raping a six-year-old disabled child. The accused was also fined Rs 4,000.
The child was raped in October 2016 when she was walking back home to her home in Mumbai alone. The accused came in an auto and dragged her into the vehicle. He took her to an isolated spot and raped her. The accused stayed in the girl’s neighbourhood.
The girl’s parents soon filed a complaint. The accused was booked under IPC Section 376 (rape) and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
A doctor who examined the girl said that there was an attempt to rape. The child is the sole eye witness in the case and is too young to identify between rape and attempt to rape.
The court took the decision to punish the accused for molestation and under provisions of the POCSO Act.
