H D Kumaraswamy stakes claim to be next Karnataka Chief Minister

H D Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal (Secular) has made it clear that he wants to be the king and not kingmaker in Karnataka.

The state chief of the Janata Dal (Secular) has emerged from the sidelines to stake claim to become the chief minister of Karnataka again with Congress support.

His father is the former prime minister of India H D Deve Gowda, and Kumaraswamy was the Karnataka CM for 20 months from February 2006.

Popularly known as Kumaranna, he is back in the reckoning after the Congress announced support to him to lead a coalition government.

He has produced several successful Kannada films.
