Patna child welfare officials to ensure protection of homeless & disabled children
Officials of the Bihar State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (BSCPCR) have expressed strong concern about the condition of disabled children who live in care centres across Patna.
Most of the shelter homes, specialised adoption agencies, rehabilitation centres for women and children, and rehabilitation centre for people with disabilities do not provide good facilities to children. The children here are mostly from economically backward families.
This was revealed during raids carried out at some centres. The conditions found were shocking.
Most of them do not provide basic facilities for children. The children here said they are not even given food and water on time. The centres are now under watch. Officials have told them to take immediate steps.
Minors in jails will also be scanned by child welfare officials. They have asked police officials to be more humane in their approach towards minors in jails and rehabilitation homes.
