Andhra Pradesh government to ensure that disabled people go to polling booths

A Sathyavani who is the Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Electoral Officer has asked all state officials to ensure that disabled people who are 18 years of age and above are enrolled for voting.

The Electoral officer held a video conference with district collectors from across Andhra Pradesh and Nodal officers from Hyderabad. He said that numbers of disabled people in the state must be taken, and those above 18 years of age must be enrolled at the earliest.

Booth level officers are in charge of ensuring that all adult disabled people go to polling booths. They will have to go door-to-door and take count of disabled people.

The officer said that disabled people must be given special facilities at polling booths during elections. Authorities at the booths must take care of their special needs. He also asked other officials for directions and suggestions to make polling booths more disabled friendly.

Other prominent officials of the district administration also took part in the event.
