Markets do well thanks to TCS, HDFC
The Sensex ended at 34924.87 up 261.76 points. The Nifty ended at 10605.15 up 91.30 points.
Stock markets in India extended gains very quickly after opening higher on Friday.
This was even as other Asian markets traded little in the early deals after Donald Trump cancelled the scheduled summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Shares of companies such as HDFC Bank, Infosys and TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) pushed up Sensex and Nifty contributing about 50% to the rise.
