Yellow spots in eyes could indicate Alzheimer’s disease, says research
Alzheimer’s disease is a form of brain degeneration that affects people as they grow old. The brain functions decline and people face difficulty in doing day-to-day tasks.
Alzheimer’s disease has no cure and can only be managed through care and medications.
The diagnosis of the disease is not always clear as many symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease are confused with old age signs. Some common signs of Alzheimer’s disease are loss of memory and communication.
New research has now found that that people with more yellow spots in their eye are more likely to have Alzheimer’s disease.
This discovery can help in diagnosing the condition in time and ensure that timely aid is provided to the patients.
As per researchers, the yellow spots in the eye may be an early warning sign of dementia.
A study was conducted in this regard on more than 110 people and 25% of people with Alzheimer’s disease took part in it.
The eyes were scanned as the yellow spots formed on the retina, inside the eye. It was found that yellow spots on the retina were linked to the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
