Ludhiana District Administration to ensure protection of senior citizens
The Ludhiana district administration in Punjab is all set to help and protect senior citizens who are facing problems in the state. The district will strictly implement the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.
Sheena Aggarwal is the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the administration. Sheena said that senior citizens can approach the district administration if they face any issues from family members or others. Most of the times, elderly are harassed over property disputes.
Sheena added that the district administration has a responsibility of taking care of the requirements of senior citizens.
Pensions will be issued on time so that the elderly will be financially independent. If they face harassment from family or close relatives, they can approach the district administration to lodge complaints. The administration has asked concerned police officers to provide a speedy solution to problems of elderly.
The Punjab government is gearing up to prepare new policies to protect and safeguard rights of senior citizens.
