Shimla faces worst water crisis, tourists asked to not visit the place
Shimla in Himachal Pradesh is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. With intense summer in most parts of India, tourists flock this beautiful place during this time of the year! But looks like, the situation is very bad now.
Shimla is battling with one of the worst water crisis. Taps are running dry for the seventh consecutive day. Locals in Shimla have asked tourists not to come down to the place due to the water crisis. Main roads and tourist destinations across Shimla are filled with locals trying to get water from public taps.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the government is holding talks to see how the problem can be resolved. Himachal Pradesh High Court has taken notice of the situation already. Even the high court has joined in trying to make things better for locals in Shimla.
Shimla Muncipal Corporation has sent fourteen water tankers and eight pick-up vehicles with water. But locals say that this is not a permanent solution for the ongoing water crisis.
Hotels across Shimla confirmed that many tourists have cancelled bookings due to the ongoing water crisis.
