Too much or too less sleep can increase risk of dementia, says study

Sleep is one of the most important factors that help you stay healthy. Over the years, studies have pointed out the importance of getting a good night’s sleep. In today’s world, due to changing lifestyles, people have irregular sleep patterns. But is that healthy? A new study has proved that too much or too less sleep can lead to neurological conditions like dementia!

A group of researchers from Japan conducted the study on 1500 people over a period of 10 years. Those who slept for less than five hours, and over slept for more than ten hours had higher risk of developing dementia.

Researchers also found out that those who were engaged in physical activity were lesser prone to health problems like dementia. Hence, the researchers confirm that apart from sleeping well, people must also indulge in physical activities in order to stay away from health problems like dementia and Alzheimer’s.

This new study has highlighted on the importance of sleep in order to stay healthy. Future researches can look into the importance of the quality of sleep.
