Priyanka apologises for Quantico episode, calls herself a proud Indian
Priyanka Chopra has said sorry for an episode in her American TV series Quantico, which led to a major online backlash from angry fans. Priyanka was slammed for playing the role of an anti-terrorist officer who plots a nuclear attack in New York to frame Pakistan.
The episode was strongly criticised by Indian fans.
In a statement on Twitter, Priyanka said,
I'm extremely saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt by a recent episode of Quantico. That was not and would never be my intention. I sincerely apologise. I'm a proud Indian and that will never change -Priyanka Chopra
Producers at the network ABC that airs Quantico have also said that Priyanka has been targeted unfairly over the episode that aired on 1 June.
Priyanka Chopra is one of the highest-paid Indian actors in the United States. She has also starred in Baywatch, a 2017 film based on the television series of the same name.
Priyanka Chopra also found support amid the strong criticism. Some people said she was acting in a TV show and it had no basis in reality.
