Experts ask Bengalureans to be beware of cataract disease!
In India, cataract has been identified as one of the main reasons for vision loss amongst people. Reports point out that the younger generation are also falling prey to this disease! If cataract is left untreated, it can lead to blurriness and vision problems to the eye.
A group of experts from Bengaluru came together to discuss about the risks and effects of cataract. According to them, there is a drastic rise of diabetic patients in Bengaluru. Diabetes can also be a reason for cataract.
An expert doctor from a pioneer hospital in Bengaluru points out that people above 50 years of age are easily prone to cataracts. Exposure of the eye to ultra violet rays will only worsen the situation.
Indians are more prone to cataracts when compared to people from other parts of the world. The shocking update is that, an average Indian is at the risk of cataract from 14 years of age!
Experts point out unhealthy lifestyle and lack of exercise are the main reasons to develop such lifestyle diseases. Maintaining a good control of blood sugar levels will also reduce the risk of cataract.
Most of the people who are affected by cataract belong to economically backward families. Hence, they are not able to afford treatment expenses as well.
The only solution to preventing such diseases is to ensure a healthy and good lifestyle pattern.
