Celeb chef Tony Bourdain's suicide underlines need for more awareness about mental health, says Deepika

Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone's courage in speaking openly about depression has been much praised. Deepika heads the organization, The Live Love Laugh Foundation (TLLLF) that looks closely into issues related to mental health in India.

After the recent suicides of international designer Kate Spade and celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, Deepika has once again emphasized the need for greater awareness about depression.

Deepika shared a message on her Instagram account where she referred to these deaths and talked about the mental struggles that some people go through.

Depression affects everyone, regardless of their age, income levels or where they live. Both Bourdain and Spade were hugely successful and had loving families and friends. Yet, depression took a toll on their mental health.

Deepika, who has spoken openly about her own struggles with depression, said that depression can affect anyone. Society needs to be more open and less judgemental towards people with mental health issues.

Sharing thoughts can help save lives. Depression and mental health issues should not be ignored and more awareness needs to be created about them.
