Telengana to issue unique identity cards for disabled people

In India, are disabled people given their rights and privileges? Inclusion is very important for the progress of a country. Keeping this in mind, Telengana government is going to issue unique identification cards for disabled people in the state. This is done as part of creating data for inclusion in the national database.

The programme was launched by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, under the central government.

An official from the department said that disabled people in Telengana have already been given an ID number. This number will be ported in order to create the database. This new database will be of immense help to disabled people in various spheres. They will be able to avail more government benefits and schemes in the coming years as well.

This initiative will soon be implemented in other states across India as well.
