Heavy rains and floods affects north east India
Monsoon has hit many parts of India. Most of the states in India are heavily hit by rains. According to reports, the latest place to be hit worse by monsoons is north east of India.
Heavy rains and winds have disrupted normal life in north east of India. According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), more than 4 lakh people have been affected due to heavy rains, floods and landslides. Assam, Tripura and Manipur are worse hit areas. National highways are damaged and more than 300 houses have been completely damaged in Assam alone.
Many train services have also been affected. The numbers are more at Tripura and Manipur.
Landslides in various parts blocked relief work and transport. Army and paramilitary troupes have reached the affected areas to go ahead with rescue works.
The government said that they will take all steps to ensure that relief works are carried on without delay.
