WhatsApp will soon stop working on these devices

WhatsApp is the most popular social messaging application at present. The app has been evolving and coming up with new features frequently.

A recent report from WhatsApp claims that the app will no longer be available for use on certain phone models due to incompatibility.

The support page of WhatsApp has been updated and new phone models are now added to it. The new list of phones will stop receiving WhatsApp update by the end of the year 2018.

The phones will not be able to support the new features that WhatsApp plans to add in the future to its platform.

Several operating systems have already stopped supporting WhatsApp such as the Android versions older than 2.3.3, Windows Phone 8.0 and older, iPhone 3GS/iOS 6.

The operating systems that will lose the support by this year are following

  • Nokia S40 until December 31, 2018
  • Android versions 2.3.7 and older until February 1, 2020
  • iOS 7 and older until February 1, 2020

WhatsApp has suggested that users upgrade to a newer version or to one of these:

  • Android running OS 4.0 and above
  • iPhone running iOS 8 and above
  • Windows Phone 8.1 and above
