India’s 1st café with HIV positive teenage staff to open in Kolkata
Kolkata is all set for India’s first café which will be run by HIV-positive teenagers. Cafe Positive is the name of this unique business initiative.
There are 10 teenagers who will start working on the café once it opens. The young employees were abandoned by their families after being diagnosed with HIV.
The teens will manage the café and perform duties such as maintain accounts, serve customers and clean tables.
Till now the 10 young people were staying with an NGO and now they have the opportunity to make a life for themselves.
The idea behind Cafe Positive was to give a chance to these teenagers, says founder Kallol Ghosh. He was helped out by Indrajyoti Dasgupta, who is a Rotary club member.
Cafe Positive is expected to open up for customers from 14 July.
