Haryana approves monthly allowance for acid attack victims
The government of Haryana has decided to take steps for the welfare of female acid attack victims.
As per reports, the government has approved a scheme to provide monthly financial assistance to women who have survived acid attacks.
A monthly allowance of Rs 8,000 will be given to women and girl acid attack victims as per Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment.
The acid attack victims will also get a preference in the allotment of fair price shops by the Haryana Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department.
Criteria for allowance
The financial assistance would be given to female acid attack victims who would come within the definition of disability under Section 2 (i) of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights of Full Participation) Act, 1995.
However, there is no special mention of acid attack victims in this act.
This means that the Haryana government would only consider the people who got mentally or physically disabled due to the acid attack.
