Elderly woman from Chandigarh to receive Rs 1.25 lakh relief from insurance agency
Our elderly are often vulnerable to being cheated and duped. Since most of them live alone and are physically weak, they do not take the effort to file a case or take legal actions against culprits. But an elderly woman from Chandigarh in Punjab ensured that the insurance agency that cheated her pays her back too!
78 year old Sneh Prabha Arora was duped by an insurance agency in 2012. Now, a grievance forum has asked Birla Sun Life Insurance Company to pay Rs 1.25 lakh to Sneh Prabha as relief!
According to reports, Sneh Prabha had taken a policy through an agent and a sum of Rs 25,000 was already paid for its renewal. Instead of going ahead with the ongoing policy, the agent issued a new policy to her. That way, Sneh Prabha lost all her money.
Sneh Prabha later sent an e-mail to the insurance agency asking them to cancel the new policy and adjust premium amount against old policy. But Sneh Praha was only refunded Rs 25,000. Hence, she decided to go to the forum.
The forum noticed that elderly people who are frail and vulnerable are often cheated and exploited. Sneh Prabha is being an ideal example by doing her bit and taking action against those who cheated her. She surely leads an example to thousands of elderly people across India who are subjected to such incidents on a regular basis!
