Chennai hosts special grievance redressal camp for disabled people
The government of Tamil Nadu is ensuring that they work towards welfare of people with disabilities. Especially, those from economically backward families! As a part of this, a special grievance redressal camp was held at Chennai on Wednesday for people with disabilities.
More than 100 disabled people from across Chennai took part in the event that was held at Tambaram. The camp that was headed by a government official, was a successful one.
Many disabled people sought assistance to receive schemes, grants and even their identity cards. Four disabled people who attended the camp were provided with assistive devices and four others received orders for sanction of government assistance.
Blind people who attended the event got free bus passes that could be used to travel within a district. Other disabled people got free bus passes between their homes and educational institutions.
The government official who attended the event said that people with disabilities will be provided with financial assistance ranging between Rs 1000 to Rs 7000.
