Blind students felicitated for many achievements at Mumbai association
There was plenty of laughter and tears of joy as 40 blind students were felicitated at the National Association for the Blind (NAB) in Worli, Mumbai.
The students were a mix of those who had secured good marks in their Class 10 exams as well as those who were shining for extra-curricular activities. Present in the group were computer wizards, chess players, swimmers, tabla players, singers and even actors.
Among those present was Aryan Bhalchandra Joshi who secured 86.6% in his SCC exam. He has also five gold and two silver medals at state and national level chess competitions. Aryan will be going to Poland this month for the World Junior chess championships representing India.
Aryan made history when he stood first among 350 chess players. He also stood first in the open category where sighted players were present. He was seventh among top world 40 when he represented India in Macedonia in 2017.
Another student was Siddhartha Sawant, who secured 95.4% in SSC. He is a state-level and a national-level swimmer. Siddharth has won three silver and four bronze medals in swimming and also plays the tabla and the piano.
