Unique blindfold running event held for inclusion
A unique blindfold run was organized in various parts of Mumbai on 1 July and was titled ‘See from the Heart’. The event was held in support of the upcoming ‘Spirit of Pinkathon’ run from Pondicherry to Chennai.
Apart from Mumbai the blindfold run events were also organised in Pune, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Kolkata and Chennai.
Hundreds of people took part in the run in pairs. One of the partners was blindfolded for one loop and the other partner for the next loop.
The aim of this running event was to encourage and motivate 20-year-old runner V. Divya from Chennai.
Divya will be India’s first visually impaired girl to run 'The Spirit of Pinkathon Run’ from Pondicherry to Chennai. She will be given company by Milind Soman, the Pinkathon founder and mentor.
Through the Pinkathon initiative Milind Soman is trying to spread the message of health and fitness for women.
Divya has been interested in running and sports, since her childhood. She was born without vision in one eye and is now pursuing her BA degree in Literature.
Her participation in the Pinkathon is aimed at creating inclusion and sensitization in people about challenges faced by the disabled people.
