Practicing yoga everyday helps in reducing severity of depression, says experts
Yoga, the age old practice that helps to curb many diseases and mental problems, is one of the best physical activities to stay fit and healthy.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), one of the most pioneer medical institutes in the country, has come up with a revelation. AIIMS asserts that practicing yoga helps in reducing the severity of depression! That is because yoga helps in increasing certain chemicals in the brain which helps to maintain the sleep-wake cycle and also helps to regulate mood, appetite, and digestion in a person.
It also slows down the pace of ageing and reduces Cortisol, which is a hormone that leads to increasing stress levels.
Researchers conducted the study on 236 people who had depression. They showed positive changes after undergoing 12 week yoga sessions!
Experts from AIIMS say that yoga helps in enhancing physical and mental well being of a person.
