A Facebook post on beating loss, fighting disability is inspiring thousands!
Jaskaran Singh, a physically disabled man, who decided to share his experiences on Facebook, has become a social media hit. Singh was a bright student full of plans when his life changed unexpectedly.
During a vacation with his family, he had an accident. He lost his entire family and became a quadriplegic. He was just 23 years old.
In his FB post, Singh has written:
I could have accepted my fate but I didn’t. I rewrote it. I decided to change what was written - Jaskaran
The post has gone viral for all the right reasons. The page is called Being You and Singh has shared his life lessons.
He says it took him a lot of time to understand what had happened and to accept it. Singh was inspired by none other than former India cricket captain Rahul Dravid He says Dravid's words inspired him to beat the odds and turn things around.
Throughout my life, I was crazy about cricket, and in the worst times, it was cricket that bailed me out. Stuck in the hospital bed, watching Rahul Dravid play in India vs England series in 2011 and never giving up inspite of being the sole warrior rekindled hope and determination. In 2015, Singh appeared for the CAT exam and scored a 99.04 percentile. He was given a place in the prestigious IIM-Bangalore with a full scholarship, a motorised chair to move around, boarding and accommodation, as well as full medical reimbursement.
Singh now works as a business analyst at a top firm.
