Heavy rains paralyzes normal life in Mumbai
Morning blues just got worse for Mumbaikars! Life in the city has come to a standstill due to heavy rains. Road and rail traffic has been affected and Mumbaikars are struggling to commute across the city. Flooded streets and waterlogged rail tracks worsened the situation! According to India Meteorological Department, this is the highest rainfall continuously for over 24 hours now.
Major parts of the city including Dadar, Sion, Parel, Kurla, Vidyavihar, Andheri, Malad and Jogeshwari suburbs are affected by heavy water clogging.
On Monday morning, those who were going to work, schools and colleges had a tough time trying to escape the terrible traffic across different parts of the city. Many of them were stranded on roads and missed work!
Officials said that no trains have been cancelled yet. But rail traffic is moving extremely slow. Even though no flights were cancelled, smooth air traffic was affected due to heavy rains.
In the past one week, more than five people were killed in various accidents due to heavy rains. The meteorological department has forecasted heavy rains in the next few days to come.
