Harassed by neighbour, disabled man attempts suicide with family
Disabled people across India still face discrimination and harassment. Why are the government, police and concerned authorities turning a blind eye towards such incidents? On Monday, a 33 year old disabled man tried to burn himself and kill his wife and daughters by pouring kerosene at Namakkal in Tamil Nadu!
Vishwanathan, along with his wife and two daughters, came to the collectorate for attending the grievances redress meeting. He alleged that his neighbour has been discriminating him and his family for many years. He had even filed a complaint at the nearby police station and they have not yet taken any action against the accused!
Upset over this, Vishwanathan decided that he must end his life along with his family at the collectorate premises. Thankfully, police officers foiled the plan!
