Online tool called TreadWill to help people cope with mental health issues

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, has developed an online tool called TreadWill, to help people cope with issues related to their mental health.

TreadWill is a website that is designed to help people deal with stress, low mood, tiredness and other depressive symptoms. This is done through online exercises, questionnaires and games.

People feeling low or lack of pleasure in usual activities will find the website useful. It will help them overcome these feelings and become more resilient against stressful events in the future.

The online too is based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) that helps people with depressive symptoms. CBT is known to be effective in treating many mental illnesses.

Through simple questionnaires, TreadWill can customise therapies for each person. It will also send the users personalised SMS alerts to help them follow the programme until the end.

Going ahead, TreadWill plans to scale the tool for different language users and offer cognitive training for other disorders such as autism spectrum disorder.
