Blue and Orange stickers to be used in vehicles on Delhi, Supreme Court approves
In its efforts to control pollution, the Delhi government had proposed the use of stickers to identify vehicles using different fuels.
The Supreme Court has given its approval to the proposal and it can now be implemented.
The government will issue hologram-based coloured stickers that will be put upon the vehicles in Delhi based on the fuel used.
Blue sticker will be put upon vehicles running on petrol and CNG and diesel vehicles will carry an orange one.
The government is hoping that this will help in curbing the pollution as the identification of vehicles will now become easier.
The central government has also supported the scheme and said it will be better than the odd-even scheme that was earlier used in Delhi.
The Supreme Court has also asked the government to consider the use of green number plates for electric and hybrid vehicles.
