Imran Khan sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan

Former Pakistani cricket player and chief of the Tehreek-e-Insaf party Imran Khan has sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Saturday morning. Imran, who always had a good relationship with India, is expected to strengthen bond between long time rivals India and Pakistan.

Punjab Congress leader and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu was one of the three cricketers who were invited for the oath taking ceremony. Sidhu said that he had participated in the ceremony not as a politician, but as a good friend of Imran. He had reached Lahore last evening itself! Sidhu told that Pakistan has risen to a new morning which can change the destiny of the country.

Imran had won the general elections last month. Even though his party fell short of a majority, they managed to fit in through the parliament’s confidence vote.

Many political leaders and prominent figures from Pakistan took part in the oath taking ceremony. Imran was even seen teary eyed when he read out the oath as Prime Minister to bear true faith and allegiance to Pakistan.
