PM Modi sounds confident ahead of 2019 elections, says no challenge for BJP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is singing a confident tune ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

He said that there is no opposition to the BJP in the national elections as there is no party capable of fighting the BJP. He claimed that the BJP is fighting on issues, not lies.

At a BJP national executive meeting on Sunday, the PM said:

Our problem is that those who were failures while in government are also failures in the Opposition. I don’t see a challenge anywhere (in the 2019 elections. We are ready to fight on neeti (policies) but we don’t know how to fight on lies. - PM Narendra Modi

The PM has dismissed the grand alliance being put up by the Opposition parties on the ground that their policy is muddy and their intentions corrupt.

During the meeting, the BJP assessed the political situation and planned the strategy for the elections given the fact that the Opposition is trying to form an alliance. Parties like the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh plan to come together to challenge the BJP.

Some of the issues the Opposition is raising are the alleged irregularities in an agreement to buy fighter jets from France, the farmers crisis and policies like demonetization.
