Opposition parties call for Bharat Bandh today to protest against rising fuel prices

The Congress along with other opposition parties has called for a Bharat Bandh today. This is to protest against the high fuel prices. They have charged the Modi government with not doing enough to bring down the prices.

This comes a day after PM Modi issued an open challenge to the Opposition parties saying that they had no chances of beating the BJP in the coming national elections. Modi had mocked the attempts of the Opposition parties to form an alliance to challenge the BJP.

Many Opposition parties like the Left, Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Nationalist Congress Party, and the DMK from Tamil Nadu have supported the bandh. It is likely to be observed in many states.

The Trinamool Congress, which is in power in West Bengal will support the issues but will not participate in the bandh in its state. It plans to hold protest marches across the state.

All businesses have been told to stay open today and been promised protection.
