Why MS Dhoni got dropped from the Windies series

October 29, 2018

Indian cricket player MS Dhoni has been dropped by the BCCI selection panel for the upcoming Twenty20 International series against Windies and Australia.

Social media went abuzz with comments from fans of Dhoni who were upset about him not being a part of the Indian squad. Many people wondered if this was the end of Dhoni's career.

However, some latest information about the selection committee's decision reveals that Dhoni has been kept out of the team to give chance to other younger players.

The selectors want to provide some much needed game exposure to younger players in view of the 2020 T20I World Cup.

Dhoni was informed about this decision by the selectors through the team management, he has been told to move on from T20 international format and give chance to other players.

His fans continue to show their support on social media. Victor MSDian‏ @venkateshsury46 tweeted,"There will have one strongest comeback inngs before he retire, that will make you realize that, You gonna miss a LEGEND forever!! @msdhoni"

Dhoni fan Akash Kanna‏ @AkashKanna18 wrote, "MSD ians forever... We want him back in squads @msdhoni @BCCI #Webelieveindhoni"

The T20 international is the shortest match format and selectors made the decision as Dhoni might not play in 2020 T20I World Cup. It was thus decided that Dhoni's place in the team should be used to train a younger player and prepare him for the 2020 T20I World Cup.

It is now being speculated that Dhoni will not be out of the picture completely and can continue to play the fifty-over format. The team selectors and team management have left the decision on MS Dhoni. It is up to him to decide about his future course of action regarding his career.

In the upcoming T20I series Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant have been named as the two wicket-keepers in the team.
