Rana Daggubati to replace Nana Patekar in Housefull 4
November 2, 2018
After the #metoo movement picked up momentum in India, several women have come forward their experiences of sexual harassments. It all started when actor Tanushree Dutta re-spoke about a 10 year old incident when she was allegedly harassed by actor Nana Patekar during a movie song shooting.
As a result of the huge outcry, Nana Patekar had quit the ongoing shooting of the movie Housefull 4. In fact the director if the film, Sajid Khan, left the film after he was also accused of sexual harassment by three women.
The movie shooting was halted and its cast members such as Akshay and Riteish Deshmukh also shared their thoughts on the social media at the time. Now some reports claim that the role that was being played by Nana Patekar will now be portrayed by actor Rana Daggubati
Rana Daggubati has acted in several Hindi movies like baby but is most known for his role in the Baahubali I and II movies.
Rana Daggubati will be playing the role of a ghazal singer and the scenes that were earlier shot with Nana Patekar in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, will be redone with Daggubati in Mumbai.
Housefull is now being made by the director Farhad Samji, who had earlier directed Housefull 2. The producers are hoping to release the film in Diwali next year.
Social media users had missed reactions to the replacement of Nana Patekar by Rana Daggubati. Abdullah†@mahir_abdullah tweeted," Rana aur Nana, na na. I wonder what the makers thought by replacing Nana wtih Rana. #Housefull4."
Well that is one way of looking at it.
Rahul Raut†@Rahulrautwrites wrote, "#Baahubali actor @RanaDaggubati officially joins the cast of #Housefull4, replacing Nana Patekar.... He will be seen playing a ghazal singer in this high budget comedy drama and will join the sets in few days in Mumbai."
It seems that the #metoo movement did have some effect on the movie industry in the country.
