Image of 'Statue of Unity' from space released by American company

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's 'Statue of Unity' is now visible from space! The image of world's tallest statue has been doing the rounds on social media. American Constellation of Satellites owned by Sky Lab released the image of the statue which is located at Gujarat. Sky Lab is one of world's most renowned commercial satellite networks.

Over 2000 workers were part of the construction of the statue which took over four years to complete. Located close to the Sardar Sarovar Dam near Narmada River, statue of unity stands for togetherness of the people of India.

At 597 feet, India's Statue of Unity is now the tallest statue in the world and clearly seen from space! Oblique SkySat image captured today, November 15, 2018- Planet Labs.

Patel, also known as the iron man of India, was an integral part of the Indian freedom struggle. The statue that crosses height of over 597 ft is taller than the statue of liberty in the United States of America. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the statue on 31 October 2018 which was also the 143rd birth anniversary of Patel. According to reports, the statue was built with an amount of Rs 2989 crore.

Social media was flooded with tweets and posts of excitement and happiness.

"At 597 feet, India's #StatueOfUnity is now the tallest statue in the world and clearly seen from space!", tweeted Dr Rutvij Patel.
