India loses first match of the T20I series by 4 runs

November 22, 2018

The first match in the three match T20I series between Australia and India did not go well for the Indian side. Australia defeated India by 4 runs at the Brisbane cricket ground on Wednesday.

The match went in favour of Australia as rain interrupted the game. Duckworth-Lewis-Stern system also known as the DLS method was used to revise their score of 158/4 that were made in 17 overs. India also had to beat the score in 17 overs.

Despite a high score of 76 runs made by Shikhar Dhawan, India fell 4 runs short of the target of 174 set by the rivals. The rest of the squad went down miserably while Dhawan played strong.

Rohit Sharma got out on 7, KL Rahul on 13 and Virat Kohli was out for just 4 runs. After Dhawan was dismissed for 76 in the 12th over, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik took to the field and made 20 off 15 balls and 30 off 13 balls respectively.

The next T20I match will be played between the two teams on Friday in Melbourne.

Fans of the Indian team were disappointed and took to social media to express the disappointment.

Anuradha@AnuRadha9082 tweeted,"Replying to @ICC As per DLS & record books, India lost the match by 4 runs. But psychologically, India won the match by 5 wickets. Dil behlane ke liye ye khyaal b achha hai ghalib #AUSvIND #INDvsAUS"
