Cricketer Hardik Pandya says sorry for remarks about women
January 10, 2019
Cricketer Hardik Pandya has apologized for making derogatory comments about women on popular TV show Koffee with Karan. The Indian all-rounder too to Instagram to say sorry.
After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments. Respect. - Hardik Pandya, Cricketer
On the show, Pandya talked about an incident where he was at a party with his parents and told them about the women he had a "scene" with. He said, ""And I actually had to tell them. This one. This one. This one," on Koffee with Karan.
Pandya has not played a Test match against Australia and was in the news while partying in Sydney with his India teammates.
Pandya's apology comes after the Indian cricket board issued a show-cause notice to him and K L Rahul, who also appeared on the show, and asked for an explanation for their remarks on the show.
The board said, "We have sent show cause notices to Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for their comments. They have given 24 hours to give an explanation."
His comments were seen as "crass and cringeworthy" and affect whether Indian cricketers appear on "such non-cricket shows" said a cricket board source.
