Malayalam actor Mohanlal gets Padma Bhushan

January 28, 2019

Malayalam film actor Mohanlal will be awarded Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian honour, for his contribution to cinema. He was already awarded with Padma Shri in 2001. Mohanlal has won five national awards and is one of the most acclaimed actors in the Indian film industry.

For me, its been a cinematic journey of 40 years, a journey in which my paths have crossed many thousands of people and well wishers. Right from the light boys on the set to the luminous galaxy of stars from the ordinary man, woman and child on the street who has watched me on screen , to the extraordinary personas who adorn the world we live in there have been scores of people whose love, blessings and support both big and small have made me endeavour each waking day to try and live up to their expectation. It is to each one of them that I dedicate this honour conferred upon me, and for this I am truly Blessed. I am humbled by this recognition and am eternally grateful to one and all who have been part of this worldly journey of mine. Jai Hind-Mohanlal

The 58 year old actor entered cinema industry in the 80's and has been full-fledged ever since then. He has put up some power packed performances in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Telugu movies as well. His movies with directors Priyadarshan and Fazil have broken box office records over the past two decades. Fans could clearly not hide their excitement.

"Congrats to one of my favourite actor's #Mohanlal aka @Mohanlal for being conferred #PadmaBhushan for his service to the arts. #RepublicDay2019#PadmaAwards", tweeted Sreedhar Pillar, a media personality.
