Narendra Modi files poll papers in Varanasi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday filed his nomination for the Lok Sabha elections from his current parliamentary constituency Varanasi. He had conducted a road show on Thursday which was attended by thousands of people. The proposers from the constituency while filing the nomination included a watchman, principal of a women's college and member of the Dom Raj family that helps perform last rites at Manikarnika Ghat.
Today, I filed my nomination papers as a candidate for the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency in the coming Parliament elections. I seek the support and blessings of the people of Kashi. Together, we will continue to transform this special city-Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India
NDA allies Parkash Singh Badal, Nitish Kumar and Uddhav Thackery along with Sushma Swaraj and Rajnath Singh were accompanied by Modi while filing the nomination. Earlier in the day, he visited the famous Kal Bhairav temple and addressed thousands of people who came to catch a glimpse of their favourite leader. On Thursday, he had attended the puja at banks of Ganga River as well.

Earlier, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi was supposed to contest from Varanasi. But she later changed that.
