Global Air India operations affected on Saturday

Due to a major technical glitch from government operated Air India, passengers from across the globe who were travelling in the airlines faced many inconveniences. The technical problem started at around 3 am on Saturday and the problem lasted for over five hours. Passengers were stranded in airports across the world and was unable to board flights since the airlines could not issue boarding passes in both domestic and international flights. Air India officials informed that this was due to server problems. Many passengers took to social media to talk about their plight.

Air India Chairman Ashwani Lohani later apologized for the inconvenience that has been caused towards the passengers.

Air India's software solutions are managed by a company called SITA that handles their check-in's and baggage tracking technology as well.

"Stranded at Mumbai airport since the last 3 hours. Apparently Air India servers are down. Asked the employees for an update, he laughed and said "Ab dekhte hain kab aayega" @airindiain, tweeted Bhavya Shree.

"Air India is the same! I tried flying it thrice between 2006-2011, couldn't for airline logistical reasons. I am baffled that an airline server doesn't work!, tweeted Matha Naganbabu.
