Cyclone Fani intensifies to severe cyclonic storm

Cyclone Fani is expected to hit the coasts of North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh by Tuesday evening. Limited to moderate rainfall is expected in various parts of South India including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh as part of this. Weather forecast departments have warned fishermen to not go to the sea from Sunday. Those who are at the sea have been asked to return back at the earliest.
Many social media users expressed their anxiety over the cyclone. But rains are definitely a respite from the scorching heat.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (MET), 'Cyclone Fani' was around 1050 kms away from Chennai coast on Sunday. It is moving northwest at a speed of 16km/hr. MET also said that chances are highly unlikely on Fani crossing Tamil Nadu. People living in coastal areas of South India have been put on alert.
'Cyclone Fani' was caused due to the severe depression over South East Bay of Bengal. The name 'Fani' was given by Bangladesh.
