Riyas A, 29 years, was inspired by Zahrin Hashim, the mastermind behind Sri Lanka suicide attacks that killed over 360 people and injured more than 500. Riyas who has confessed that he was plotting for suicide attacks across Kerala was produced before a court in Kochi on Tuesday.

Riyas has been following Hashim's works and speeches for over a year. He reportedly had contacts with Malayalis who worked in the ISIS as well. Since Riyas was fluent in Tamil, he was able to understand the speeches of Hashim. Riyas even tried to rope in some others to become part of his plan to implement a suicide attack. But since they did not understand Tamil, Riyas could not convince them. NIA is probing into more details of people who are likely to be working along with Riyas.
