Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is seeking a second term in office, recently passed a comment against Rajiv Gandhi, India's former Prime Minister from Congress party. Modi, who was addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh, said to Rahul Gandhi that his father Rajiv Gandhi was termed as Mr Clean by his courtiers, but he was corrupt number one. Rahul Gandhi, who is also the President of Congress party, replied to Modi through a tweet on his social media.
Modi Ji, The battle is over. Your Karma awaits you. Projecting your inner beliefs about yourself onto my father won't protect you. All my love and a huge hug. Rahul-Rahul Gandhi, President, Congress
Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated in 1991, had faced trials for scams. But the court has let him off as well. Many social media users reacted against Modi's insensitive comment about the late leader.
"No low is low enough. It just keeps getting worse. What a disgrace to the highest office, tweeted Author Gurmehar Kaur.
"Modiji, there's a good chance that you will secure a second term for yourself and get a mandate to rule for another 5 years. But it's easy to get power but very difficult to earn respect. @narendramodi You could have responded to @RahulGandhi without dragging his dead father, tweeted Writer Sadhavi Khosla.
