Many top leaders face defeat for Lok Sabha elections

BJP has won this year’s Lok Sabha elections with a huge majority. Many unpopular leaders stepped up victorious this time with a huge majority of votes while many popular leaders faced a huge setback. One amongst them was Congress President Rahul Gandhi. He had contested from Amethi and Wayanad. Rahul was contesting against Union Minister Smriti Rani in Amethi where she won with a majority of over 22,000 votes. Whereas, Rahul won with a record- breaking victory margin at Wayanad in Kerala with a majority of over 4 lakh votes.

Congratulations to Narendra Modi and BJP on their win. I also want to congratulate Smriti Irani who won from Amethi. People are the king and they have made the decision. As an Indian, I fully respect decision of people of India. To all the Congress leaders who have won or been defeated, there is nothing to worry-Rahul Gandhi, Congress President

The ruling Telegu Desam Party (TDP) at Andhra Pradesh lost to the YSR Congress party (YSRCP). Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu submitted his resignation to the Governor after the party failed to get a majority in the state. YSRCP leader Jagan Mohan Reddy is all set to become the Chief Minister of the state as they have won all the seats in Andhra Pradesh. Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh also faced defeat at his constituency Mangalagiri.

Young leader Kanhaiya Kumar, who contested as a CPI candidate lost the battle to BJP’s Giriraj Singh by over 3,94,000 votes. The former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) President could not get his hold at Begusarai which was his Lok Sabha constituency.

Jyotiraditya Scindia who contested for Congress from Guna constituency was defeated by BJP candidate Krishna Pal Singh. Bollywood actor Shatrugnan Sinha, who recently shifted party from BJP to Congress, also faced defeat after BJP’s Ravi Shankar Prasad won with a huge majority. He had contested from Patna. His wife Poonam Sinha who contested from Lucknow was defeated by Rajnath Singh of BJP.

Actor Prakash Raj had contested as an independent candidate from Bangalore Central Lok Sabha constituency but was defeated.

Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar who contested for Congress from North Mumbai constituency also faced huge defeat. She had filed a complaint with the Election Commission regarding EVM.

“On the form of EVM 17C from Magathane, the signatures and the machine numbers are different. A complaint has been filed with the Election Commission, tweeted Urmila Matondkar.
