World leaders congratulate PM Modi

United States President Donald Trump was among the galaxy of world leaders to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his "big" election victory, saying "great things" are in store for ties between the two nations after the re-election.
"Congratulations to Prime Minister @NarendraModi and his BJP party on their BIG election victory!" Trump tweeted. "Great things are in store for the US-India partnership with the return of PM Modi at the helm. I look forward to continuing our important work together!"
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan too sent his congratulatory messages.
I congratulate Prime Minister Modi on the electoral victory of BJP and allies. Look forward to working with him for peace, progress and prosperity in South Asia. - Imran Khan, Prime Minister, Pakistan
PM Modi, responded, by saying, "I warmly express my gratitude for your good wishes. I have always given primacy to peace and development in our region".
Other heads of state to send messages were Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Chinese President Xi Jinping. This was after trends showed that the BJP had taken comfortable majority in the 543-seat Lok Sabha.
The results are important for Pakistan as the formation of the next government would determine the course of bilateral ties. In April, Khan said he saw a better chance for peace talks with India if the BJP won the national election. The Pakistan PM had said if the next government in India were led by the Congress party, it might be "too scared" to seek a settlement with Pakistan over Kashmir, fearing a backlash.
